Ocean & Finance: Blue Economy for Ocean Health

Ocean-positive blue economy, unlocked by blended finance mechanisms, is increasingly attracting investors, insurers, banks, and policymakers as an immense source of prosperity and climate action. The Blue Economy for Ocean Health event showcased the important role of the finance and investment community in driving mitigation and adaptation interventions for vulnerable communities and natural marine habitats. Craig Cogut, Founder & CEO of Pegasus, among other panelists revealed how Ocean Action is Climate Action and shared ideas on how to increase the share of climate finance for ocean-based mitigation and adaptation strategies, including by implementing appropriate policy and regulatory frameworks.

This event was the first of a series of events being organized under the COP26 Virtual Ocean Pavilion dedicated to the discussion on how to build and/or enhance synergies between the ocean and the other themes addressed by the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action in a cross-sectoral approach. The event was co-organized by the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, Global Ocean Forum, and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
